Simma Local Partner
Employed and local. Build and look after a portfolio of small businesses running on Simma, with the AI doing the repetitive work.
Built around the school day. Core hours are 10am to 3pm, three to five days a week, so the work fits around the school run. We think there are many brilliant people, often parents who had sales, account management or corporate careers before children, who have a lot to give and struggle to find work that fits around their family. This role is designed for them: flexible, local, and judged on outcomes rather than hours at a desk.
Be Simma's person in your local business community
Simma is building an AI-native Business Operating System for small businesses. We're also building something we think should be just as important: the Simma Partner Network.
Simma Local Partners are employed members of our team who build relationships with businesses in their local communities and stay with those businesses as they grow.
This isn't a traditional sales job, and it isn't a traditional customer success job. There is no handoff where you win a customer and somebody else takes over. You build your portfolio. You grow your portfolio. You build your community.
You'll find great local businesses, help them understand whether Simma is right for them, get them successfully running and remain their principal human relationship with Simma. Simma's AI and technology will do much of the repetitive work. Your job is to do the things humans are better at: building relationships, understanding businesses, solving problems and helping people succeed.
What you'll own
In short: local marketing, sales and support, done from inside Simma. You find businesses, talk to them, win the right ones, get them live and support them for as long as they're customers.
1. Build your portfolio
You'll build a portfolio of successful Simma businesses in your area. Simma will help you understand the market around you: our tools will identify businesses in your territory, organise prospects, surface useful information and give you practical playbooks for approaching different types of business. You'll combine that with your own local knowledge and relationships.
- Identify businesses that could benefit from Simma
- Build relationships with local business owners
- Follow up appropriate prospects
- Respond to inbound opportunities assigned to you
- Demonstrate Simma
- Help businesses decide whether Simma is right for them
- Develop referrals from existing customers
- Build relationships within the local business community
- Go to local networking events and business groups, and meet owners face to face
- Hand out copies of Simma Sparks, Simma's magazine for business owners, once it's in print
- Wear Simma-branded clothing when you're out: locally, you are Simma
We don't want customers who aren't right for Simma. Your success isn't measured simply by how many people you persuade to sign a contract. We want good customers who become successful long-term Simma businesses.
2. Get customers successfully live
Winning the customer is the beginning of the relationship. Simma's AI and onboarding tools will automate as much of onboarding as possible; you'll step in where a human can make the difference.
- Understand how the customer's business operates
- Help them choose the right way to use Simma
- Guide them through onboarding
- Help remove blockers
- Make sure the important parts of their business are successfully live
- Help them reach their first meaningful value from Simma quickly
We don't measure success by accounts created. We measure successful businesses running on Simma.
3. Grow and retain your portfolio
Once a customer is live, you remain their Simma Local Partner. That doesn't mean constantly calling every customer: Simma should do most routine monitoring and support automatically, and will help you see where your attention makes the biggest difference. Each day, your Partner workspace will help surface customers who are onboarding well, customers who need help, signs of disengagement, important milestones, opportunities to introduce another useful Simma capability, businesses growing quickly, potential referrals, upcoming customer anniversaries, and customers you haven't spoken to for a while.
A healthy customer who needs nothing from you should be allowed to get on with running their business. A customer who needs a human should know exactly who their person at Simma is.
4. Build your local Simma community
As your portfolio grows, you'll help bring those businesses together: local meetups, breakfasts and informal events, workshops, introductions between customers, local customer stories, community partnerships, regional Simma events, nominating businesses for future Simma awards, and surfacing great stories for Simma's content and media.
5. Represent your customers inside Simma
You're not only Simma's representative to the customer. You're the customer's representative inside Simma. You'll tell our product team what customers struggle with, what they love, what they're trying to accomplish, where Simma creates unnecessary work, what they wish it could do, and which requests are isolated versus patterns you see across your portfolio. Your experience should directly influence what we build.
Simma works alongside you
We don't expect Local Partners to build a portfolio with spreadsheets, cold-call lists and guesswork. You'll work inside Simma. Over time, its AI tools will help you understand your territory, know who to approach and why, know what to do next with playbooks for each business type, get a short briefing before every conversation, manage your portfolio (onboarding, adoption, health, support needs, opportunities and milestones) and start each day with the handful of actions likely to have the most impact.
AI provides the leverage. You provide the relationship.
How we'll measure success
The role has three equally important responsibilities.
Grow
Keep adding good businesses to your portfolio. As an established Partner, our initial expectation is approximately 18–24 new paying businesses per quarter, adjusted for territory, portfolio maturity, customer type and working hours. Early targets ramp while you learn Simma and build your local network. Your portfolio is the customers you win: from your own local activity, from referrals, or from Simma marketing leads you follow up and convert. Businesses in your area that sign up and set themselves up without you stay self-serve, but each gets a welcome email introducing you as their Local Partner, with your details, so they know who to call. We're interested in portfolio growth, not arbitrary activity targets.
Keep
Help customers stay successful with Simma. Small businesses naturally have meaningful churn, so we don't expect every customer to stay forever. We'll measure retention against comparable Simma customer groups, and distinguish where possible between churn that could have been prevented and structural reasons such as a business closing. Our aim is for customers supported by the Partner Network to outperform comparable customers without a Partner.
Care
Make sure customers get help when it matters: successful activation, customer health, time to value, a timely response when human support is needed, customer feedback, referrals and advocacy, community participation, and the human support time each customer needs. More support activity isn't automatically better; one of Simma's goals is to use AI and great product design to reduce repetitive human work, giving you more time for relationships, community and growth.
Portfolio capacity
There's no fixed rule that every Local Partner manages exactly 100 or 200 businesses; different businesses need different amounts of attention, and Simma will help us understand the real workload in your portfolio. As an initial principle, about 25–30% of your capacity should stay available for growth and community. If supporting existing customers takes all of your time, that's something Simma needs to solve, through better product, better AI, portfolio redistribution or more Partner capacity. We don't want successful Partners to become overloaded support agents.
Salary
Local Partners are employed members of the Simma team. The starting rate is £30 per hour.
| Working pattern | Weekly hours | Approx. annual base pay |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days × 10am–3pm | 15 | £23,400 |
| 4 days × 10am–3pm | 20 | £31,200 |
| 5 days × 10am–3pm | 25 | £39,000 |
Holiday, pension and employment benefits are provided in addition to the base salary. We expect the role to fit around people's lives rather than requiring people's lives to fit around the role.
Rolling customer success bonus
We don't want to reward short-term selling. We want to reward Partners for bringing good businesses to Simma and helping them succeed over time, so the main variable pay is based on customer longevity, triggered by each customer's own anniversary rather than an annual company bonus cycle.
At every anniversary of a qualifying customer in your portfolio, you'll receive 3% of the eligible Simma revenue that customer generated in the previous 12 months, for as long as you remain that customer's Partner.
Eligible revenue means revenue actually earned by Simma from that customer, not the total value of payments passing through Simma. Bonuses are paid on a rolling basis after each qualifying anniversary.
The better the businesses in your portfolio do over time, the better you do.
What about customers who join Simma themselves?
Simma is a product-led business. Many customers will discover Simma online, start using it themselves and need very little human help. That's exactly what we want. Self-serve customers in your area are introduced to you in their welcome email, so they know who their local person is. They join your portfolio when you win them. Being someone's Partner doesn't mean manufacturing reasons to contact them: some customers want regular contact, others just want to know someone is there when they need them. Both are successful relationships.
What we'll provide
- Company laptop and mobile phone
- A full Simma employee account and the Partner workspace
- AI prospecting and portfolio tools
- Communications and video tools
- Training and ongoing development
- Sales and customer-success playbooks
- Approved travel and customer expenses
- A budget for local community activity
Wherever possible, Simma runs Simma: the same operating system we build for customers helps you run your territory and portfolio.
Who we're looking for
You don't need a SaaS background, to have been an Account Executive, or ten years in customer success. We're looking for people who are excellent with people, curious about businesses, commercially minded without being pushy, comfortable starting conversations, good listeners, able to build trusted relationships, organised and dependable, confident with technology, able to explain complicated things simply, comfortable working independently, proactive, and genuinely motivated by helping businesses succeed.
You might have worked in sales, account management, customer service, operations, recruitment, banking, hospitality, retail or professional services. You might have run your own business, be returning to professional work after time away, or simply want an ambitious professional role that fits differently around the rest of your life. We're interested in ability, judgement and relationships, not pedigree.
Career development
Local Partner is the start of a Partner career, not necessarily a route into people management. As Simma grows, we expect the Partner Network to include Senior and Principal Local Partners (larger or more complex portfolios, helping establish Simma in a region), Industry Partners (specialists in sectors such as franchising, hospitality, professional services, instructors or field services) and Strategic Partners (larger, multi-location organisations). Becoming more senior doesn't have to mean managing a team.
What "Partner" means
Simma Local Partners are employees of Simma. This is not a franchise, reseller programme, affiliate scheme or outsourced sales network. We use the word Partner because it describes the relationship: you represent Simma in your community, and you represent your customers inside Simma.
Software when you want it. People when you need them.
